Welcome to our new Blog Series: Inside E5
Each week, we’re going to ask an E5-er some fun questions so you can get to know our team (and our quirks) a little better. Every person at Element5 plays an integral role in the success of our projects and our differences are what makes our team so amazing. So we wanted to take you all behind the scenes so you could get to know each and every one of us better. Psst.. don’t forget to hit play on that Spotify playlist below! We asked everyone to create a playlist with there current favorite song so you could relate a bit more to them. Music tells a lot about someone and how they like to work and spend their time. Dive in below and enjoy getting to know our Designer, Tyler Zenk!
Tyler Zenk is one of our talented designers here at Element5. He joined our team in May of 2017 and brought us a breath of fresh air with his animation and illustrations. Tyler has a light-hearted spirit and passion for distance running.
Tyler’s favorite music at the moment:
- Do you have a nickname?
Ty-Guy (my mom calls me that)
That Bearded Fella
BTW… These are nicknames I gave myself
- Where were you born?
I was born in a small town in the middle of nowhere Wyoming.
- What’s your favorite song?
Hmm, this is a very tough question. I like a lot of different kinds of music but currently my go-to song is Ugo by The Dead Pirates. It’s got a cool funky sound to it and one of my favorites illustrators is actually in the band.
- Favorite season?
I really enjoy Fall for the perfect running conditions, but I do enjoy Winter as well. Snow is pretty awesome. If it never got above 75 degrees all year I’d be pretty happy.
- Favorite holiday?
Oh man, I love me some Christmas. It’s a great time of year to spend with family and listen to the Christmas classics from Nat King Cole.
- Are you a night owl or early riser?
Definitely not an early riser unless it’s a race day. I can get up early if I have to, but I’d much rather stay up late.
- What are some of your hobbies/interests outside of work?
I love running and being outside camping and hiking. I also really enjoy gardening, woodworking, brewing my own beer, roasting my own coffee beans, playing ping pong and tennis, and playing video games.
- What is your favorite social media platform?
Ahh man, this is a really interesting question. I really don’t care for social media at all, it’s such a waster of time and energy, and I’ll admit I spend way to much time on social media, I wish I didn’t but I do. My go-to’s are browsing Instagram and Dribbble.
- Are you naturally organized or unorganized?
I would say I’m naturally organized, but it’s a creative/messy organized. People with perfectly clean and minimal desks kinda freak me out. There is a chaos to creativity and I enjoy the mess of it.
- What brings you the most joy?
At work, it’s when we get to create something awesome and unique with the full trust of the client to let us do our thing. It doesn’t happen all the time but when it does it’s a great feeling and I think the results speak for themselves. Outside of work, running and spending time with my wife brings me tons of joy.
- Drink of choice?
I started brewing my own beer so I feel obligated to say my homebrewed beer. But it really is good and there is nothing better than enjoying something you made yourself. I also love roasting and brewing my own coffee from Sweet Marias.
- What Element5 project are you most proud of?
I have really enjoyed working on branding and website for The 06 Legacy and all the fun work we’ve got to do with Del Bene Produce. Any time we get to design or redesign logos and help a client with their branding is always a win in my book.
- If you could travel to any country right now where would you go or what would you want to see?
I really want to spend some time in Germany. There is nothing in particular I would want to see there, I just want to travel around and take in the culture. If not Germany, I would love to hang out in Iceland for a while.
- If you could only eat one type of food for the rest of your life what would it be?
Is pizza a type of food? I would choose pizza because it’s a canvas food. You can add all different types of toppings. The possibilities are nearly endless.
