A few months ago we kicked off our summer internship program to mentor and teach the ins-and-outs of digital marketing, web development and web design. To help get an inside look at the web design internship, Becca gave her thoughts into what she took away from the program:
During my time at Core3 Solutions, I learned a lot about how design is implemented in a work environment rather than at a university. Having a background in graphic design, working through the branding process was new to me as well as doing web design. Additionally, working on branding for C3Labspace taught me how to work with a client and create a solution for what they need while still keeping my point of view as a designer incorporated.
Being able to work in different aspects of design has made me feel more rounded as a graphic designer. I have never worked on branding for a company or designed a website, so being able to have work on those things for my portfolio has been very beneficial. I feel more confident in the process of designing for a client rather than myself.
My skills have improved by learning to draw inspiration from outside sources. Through this experience I continue to push myself as a designer and not be as nervous when showing my work. Finding a common ground between what the client wants and what I feel confident about as a designer has been challenging; however, I feel a lot better about it after being here this summer.
Being a part of this program was very beneficial as a student. It was completely different than being in a classroom and working with a professor. Working outside of the classroom is something that being in school can’t teach you, so I feel like learning in a different environment has definitely been a huge benefit to me. I don’t think I would feel as ready to apply for jobs if I hadn’t been a part of this program.
It has been a pleasure having Becca as part of our team this summer. Her bubbly personality, willingness to learn and eye for design has left a lasting impression on the Core3 team. We wish her the best on her future endeavors and early congratulations on graduation this December as she will always be part of the Core3 family.
