At Core3, there’s no doubt that we love the Internet. We spend countless hours online and when we’re not busy with client work, we love surfing the web to find cool websites. With 620 million websites floating around in cyberspace, it’s easy to get lost in the enormous World Wide Web. Though there are some obvious websites that regularly attract out attention – like Facebook, Google, Twitter – our staffers regularly utilize some pretty neat websites that you may not have heard of.

In today’s blog, we’ll introduce you to some of our favorite websites.

Paul Chambers, Core3 CEO

  • Function of website: Technology industry news.
  • Why is it your favorite website? The articles on Mashable range from the informational to the humorous. It is a great resource for staying up to date on what is going on in the tech world.
  • Why would readers find this website useful, helpful or entertaining? Learn about the latest and greatest right away and be an early adopter!

 

Dan Corcoran, Core3 Interactive Designer

  • Favorite websites: FormFiftyFive & Swiss-Miss
  • Function of websites: Both websites concentrate on a variety of cool, cutting-edge designs. With contributors from all over the world, Formfiftyfive shares a wide range of innovative designs. The SwissMiss blog covers awesome designs in products, websites, videos and more.
  • Why is it your favorite website? As our lead designer, Dan loves staying up to date on the latest design trends and connecting with creative minds. These blogs give Dan inspiration for his client work and his own website: OhHeyNoWay.
  • Why would readers find this website useful, helpful or entertaining? These blogs are helpful for creative minds looking for inspiration.

  • Function of website: An online community where users can vote on web content that they enjoy. It collects interesting content from all over the web and categorizes that information for easy browsing.
  • Why is it your favorite website? It’s got all the new content to the internet located in one location.
  • Why would readers find this website useful, helpful or entertaining? Reddit covers a wide range of cool Internet topics including politics, pictures, gaming, humor and more. It can serve as an informative or entertaining platform and exposes users to things on the web that they may otherwise miss.

 

Adam Stogdill, Core3 Developer

  • Favorite website: AltaVista
  • Function of website: Users can search the web
  • Why is it your favorite website? This is Adam’s favorite website because it helps him find the things he needs to know.  Adam said: “It is like having a butler for the web that you can ask for anything!”
  • Why would readers find this website useful, helpful or entertaining? Readers of this website would enjoy it because it is very helpful at finding things that they may be looking for.

 

 

Jennifer Cline, Administrative Assistant

  • Favorite website: Kickstarter
  • Function of website: To help entrepreneurs and creative types raise money to fund projects. Within the last three years, Kickstarter has helped raise more than $350 million to aid in the creation of more than 30,000 creative projects.
  • Why is it your favorite website? It gives everyday folks the opportunity to start awesome projects. These are progressive, intelligent people who are working to do inventive projects – many of which are aimed to better the world in some way.
  • Why would readers find this website useful, helpful or entertaining? Kickstarter users can utilize the website to gain funding for their own projects. Additionally, the website gives people insight to the amazing things happening throughout the world. There are thousands of people looking for investors in their projects. Donations start at $1 and are rewarded with gifts, blog shout outs and more.

  • Function of website: To learn which search engine you really like better.
  • Why would readers find this website useful, helpful or entertaining? Users are asked to search for a few random terms then compare the results brought up from Google and Bing – without knowing which result is from which search engine. Then, the website configures which search engine the user prefers.

 

  • Website: CrowdRise
  • Function of website: To raise money for charities and give users the ability to donate to a variety of cool project, fundraisers and charities.
  • Why would readers find this website useful, helpful or entertaining? Users can browse through thousands of causes to find one they’re interested in donating to. In many cases, these donations are tax deductible.

 

  • Website: SkillShare
  • Function of website: An online learning platform that allows teachers and students to work online and teach a variety of skills.
  • Why would readers find this website useful, helpful or entertaining? Topics taught on this website range from creative arts to technology. If there’s something you’d like to learn, affordable classes can be taken online to teach that specific skill. Alternatively, if you have something you’d like to teach, SkillShare is always looking for new teachers to offer classes. Some classes even offer in-person sessions for hands-on learning.
