Blogging started as a fun way for people to document their daily lives and share information with friends and family. Within the last ten years, blogs have become important tools in online marketing. Thousands of businesses have implemented blogs in their websites. Blogs cover an array of topics and companies are thinking of creative ways to share content with their customers.

You may be asking yourself – should my company have a blog? The answer is simple: yes! No matter what industry you are in, maintaining a blog can have a variety of uses.

1. Blogs drive traffic.

There are two key ways that a blog can help increase traffic: SEO and social media integration.

Creating blogs around specific keywords can increase your website’s ranking on search engines. Search engine optimization (SEO) is imperative for the success of any website. Make sure to include your keywords in your blog’s title, meta description and content. Google loves websites that are updated frequently!

Social networks are a great way to share information with people. After you publish a blog, share the link on all of your social networks. This will notify people of the new content and encourage them to share it with their friends. There are also a variety of social media integration tools that will add share buttons directly on your blog. With a simple click, customers can share your blog on the social network of their choice. It is important to create quality content to encourage more shares. The more your blog is shared, the more people see it and, potentially, the more customers you will get. Sharing your blog link on social networks is a great way to reach new customers who may not have noticed you otherwise.

2. Blogs are easy to maintain.

Generally speaking, maintaining a blog is pretty simple stuff. If your company already has a website, adding a blog page is relatively simple. If you don’t have a website, you can create a simple WordPress website to publish blog content.

Some blog content may take some time to research, but you can also include blogs that are easy to post. Companies can create blogs with pictures, infographics, product updates, interesting facts or videos. Your blog should include more in-depth blog content; however, fun posts tend to engage readers more.

3. Blogs keep you fresh.

Writing a blog usually takes a bit of research. In turn, you become more knowledgeable about that particular topic. Maintaining a blog will encourage you to be up-to-date on the latest news pertaining to your information. The more informed you are, the better you can explain things to your customers.

Additionally, websites need to be updated frequently. Customers like seeing new information. No matter how great a website looks, if the content is outdated – customers probably won’t make a purchase. If customers see that you are constantly involved in the progression of your company, they will likely check back later for updates.

4. Blogs give your company a voice.

Nowadays, people want to know the people behind a company. No one wants to buy a service or product from a robot.

Blogging gives customers an idea of your company’s personality.  As we stated before, you can include fun content in your blogs. Writing a piece about your company’s culture will give customers a behind-the-scenes view of the company and it encourages them to interact with you. Blog comments can be a helpful way to engage potential customers and maintain healthy customer service.

Blogs also give you the opportunity to put your own spin on industry-related news and topics. If you read an interesting article, you can discuss it in your company’s blog. Never copy someone else’s content or pictures, though. Always make sure information is in your own writing.

At Core3, we love blogging. We work hard to publish informative blogs; it’s also important that our blogs are fun and represent our company’s culture. If you’d like to start or expand a blogging strategy for your company, we’d love to help!
